Kseniya Simonova, a 24 year old artist was the winner of the Ukraine’s Got Talent show this year. She spent a year perfecting these drawing sequences. She uses sand, a giant light box accompanied with music and sound to tell her stories. This first video below illustrates Germany’s invasion and occupation of Ukraine during WWII and it left the judges and audience in tears. The text that she writes at the end of the performance translates to “you are always near”. Touching and amazing.

We’re at TEDGlobal this week and on Tuesday we spent the day listening to talks about philsophy and graphic design and heard the musings of actor Stephen Fry. But we were really surprised by the special guest appearance…Britain’s Prime Minister, Gordon Brown. The Prime Minister’s talk ended the day discussing how the use the world’s interconnectedness to develop a set of shared ethics. Check out Gordon Brown’s TED Talk and find out more about TEDGlobal.

Two typographers, Pierre Smeets & Damien Aresta, from pleaseletmedesign and a pro race pilot, Stef van Campenhoudt, designed and tracked a car movement to create a new font for the promotion of Toyota iQ. Tokyo based studio tha ltd. recently relaunched the website for their in-house creative label, SCR, and released a series of interactive screen saver, featuring products by Brendan Dawes Andreas Muller, Delaware, and Theodore Watson. All the prodcuts are free to try and cost around $5~$15 to download it. My personal favorite is MUG SHOOTER, which takes a unique mug shot of you. I think it would be interesting to have this screen saver open in your office while you are at lunch break or a meeting. You might get to see some of intense expressions that you never seen before from your co-wokers.

Pete Candeland of Passion Pictures recently released a very inspirational work for The Beatles: Rock Band. He created an entire opening cinematic that takes you through the journey of The Beatles in two and a half minutes long animation. It is one of the most beautiful opening animation that I’ve seen for video games and I think it is worth buying the game to just enjoy the introduction.
